Crimestoppers is a charity which operates across the UK to help identify, prevent, solve and reduce crime. This invaluable community service enables anyone with details of criminal activity to pass them on anonymously, without fear of exposure or retribution.
Crimestoppers depends on YOU calling the Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111.
Where is Crimestoppers?
East Midlands Crimestoppers covers the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
How it works
All it takes to pass on information is one call to 0800 555 111. Every call is treated with absolute anonymity so that nobody will know the identity of the caller, except you, the caller. You will not be required to reveal your name, make a statement or appear in court. Your call to Crimestoppers will not be recorded or traced.
How are Rewards Paid?
Rewards are available for any caller who provides information leading to the arrest and charge of a suspect. If a caller gives information and wishes to claim a cash reward, the caller will be given a confidential code number and asked to call back on a given date. If information results in an arrest and charge the caller becomes eligible for a reward of up to £1000. The reward money is then paid to the caller anonymously at a later date using a high street bank at a location convenient for the caller.
A Crimestoppers Enhanced Reward Scheme exists to enable officers investigating very serious crime (e.g. murder, rape) to apply to Crimestoppers Trust for a reward of up to £10,000, which is paid on conviction.
Examples of our success
A man was robbed and kidnapped in his own car. Whilst driving he was subject to repeated threats and assaults but was eventually released. Following a TV appeal Crimestoppers received a call identifying the offender and the area he lived in. As a direct result of the call the man was arrested and charged.
Crimestoppers received three calls about blatant drug dealing from a caller who was equally concerned for the welfare of the young children at the house. Two people were found heavily under the influence of drugs and a large number of used syringes were discovered. The state of the premises was so bad that the children were immediately taken into care.
